Special Provisions' Founder and CEO, John G. George, Jr., is a renowned attorney, consultant, speaker, and businessman with deep ties to the Texas real estate profession.
For over 16 years, John has been a trusted advisor for many prominent real estate industry professionals who seek out his unique ability to advise on both legal and practical considerations. John serves as the Co-Chair of the Texas Real Estate Commission Broker-Lawyer Committee to which the President of the State Bar of Texas twice appointed John to six-year terms (2017-2023/2023-2029). John also serves on the Texas A&M University Texas Real Estate Research Center drafting committee for the mandatory TREC Legal Update and Broker Responsibility continuing education classes. In this role, John is one of two “instructor of instructors” who teach the class required before a person may teach Legal Update and Broker Responsibility.
John began his legal career litigating complex jury and bench trials in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts across Texas and the nation for clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 50 companies. Over time, John’s passion for real estate transitioned his practice into advising real estate brokers/agents, buyers/sellers, lenders, and title companies in multiple capacities while he also pursued various business interests. In 2019, John co-founded an independent title agency, Hometown Title, and served as its Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. In addition to managing the organization, John personally closed hundreds of residential, commercial, and farm and ranch transactions. He successfully divested his interest in Hometown Title in 2023.
Clients and industry professionals frequently call John the “least lawyer-like lawyer until the situation requires it.” John takes great pride in this reputation, and his ability to simplify complex concepts and relate to his clients and their situations arises from having walked in their shoes as an attorney, real estate agent, escrow officer, and business owner.
